TRAVEL DIARY

I TRAVELLED TO...

East Asia. I went to Singapore, Japan, China, and Taiwan over the span of 3 months.

WHY DID YOU WANT TO GO THERE?

Yearning for something new.

WHEN DO YOU FEEL YOUR MOST FREE?

I feel my most free when I’m independent and exploring the world on my own. And feeling like I don’t have any restrictions to accomplish what I want to.

HOW DID THIS TRIP SHIFT YOUR PERSPECTIVE?

Possibilities in this life are endless, home can mean a million different things, possessions matter very little, travel to enrich your life - not escape from it - and I agree with what Bourdain once said: “Be a traveller, not a tourist.”

SOME MEMORIES OR MOMENTS I WILL CHERISH ARE?

7/11 heated Ito En green tea everyday, my train stop Gakuyei-Daigaku, Shuiguo Spa Shanghai trip with my bestie, Trips to Nakaro Broadway (I’m toy/ trinket-obsessed), and Shibuya Saunas.

WHAT DOES FREEDOM FEEL LIKE TO YOU?

It feels amazing; it feels like I can really accomplish anything without any judgement or fear of failure.  I think, for me, freedom is peace of mind, and being able to just exist in the world, and do exactly what I want to do, and have my own independence.

“For me, freedom is peace of mind and having the autonomy to make my own choices and pursue passions without constraints.”

FREEDOM IS...

For me, freedom is peace of mind and having the autonomy to make my own choices and pursue passions without constraints.

I'M GRATEFUL I HAD THE TIME TO...

Gosh, all of it. The connections, the food, the nature, the time alone. It was all so healing. I feel unbelievably lucky and filled with gratitude.

I'M COMING HOME WITH ...

-8 tins of matcha powder-6 buffalo horn gua shas-1999 Miu Miu python cowboy boots (dream boots I found on Japan Ebay)

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT TRAVELLING?

There’s so much more to life than living the same day over and over again. Travelling = growth.

TRAVEL DIARY continued

WHY DO YOU THINK TRAVELLING AND MAINTAINING A SENSE OF CURIOSITY IS IMPORTANT?

I think it’s really important to leave the places in our life that are most comfortable and that are really easy to feel stuck in. And I think that’s why traveling is such a crucial part of the human existence, is it– I don’t know, it creates perspective and a lot of lessons we otherwise wouldn’t have being somewhere where we feel like we aren’t growing.

IN WHAT WAY HAS TRAVELLING PLAYED A PART IN THE FORMATION OF WHO YOU ARE TODAY?

Since I started traveling I’ve become a very different person. I think, originally, my intention in traveling was to escape, and be avoidant of what I was feeling within my life. But I think I’ve learned that traveling should be a means of enrichment, not a means to escape your life.
